What is the approach?
Solution-focused coaching.
Here you won't be told what to do or given advice as in mentoring or consulting. We believe that you're the expert on your own life, and the wisdom you need is already within you. Coaching helps you uncover it and convert that into actions.
You will not unwind the past or dwell on the problems as in therapy. We believe you are whole and there is nothing to "fix". Coaching focuses on your future and the solutions that will get you there.
* If you're experiencing acute emotional distress, depression, trauma, addiction, or feel unable to maintain emotional stability, therapy is the right place to begin. Coaching is not a substitute for mental health care.
What should I expect in a session?
You will bring a topic for coaching, along with a desire for change and a willingness to take action.
Through conversations, we will co-create a safe and open space for your inner resourcefulness to emerge and flow. Clarity, insights and action items will naturally come forward.
Sessions are offered over Zoom or phone. The first session is 1hr to 1.5hr long. Following sessions can be between 30 minutes to 1 hour long each.
How much is the cost?
The market rate for similar services is $50–$200 per session, but money means something different to everyone. You're welcome to pay what feels fair and meaningful to you based on the value you receive from our sessions. No one will be turned away due to fees.
Payment can be made via Zelle to email after each session or at the end of our work together.
How do I get started?
Please schedule a meeting directly on Calendly. If you get no value out of the session or we turn out to be a poor fit, no payment would be expected.

Who is the coach?
I'm Dan, a scientist with a Ph.D. in biophysics.
I received my bachelors from Peking Univeristy, Ph.D. from Universtiy of California, San Francisco, and postdoc training from Stanford University.
I received my coach training from Erickson Coaching International and the Mindfulness Coaching School.
I grew up in China and moved to the US for graduate school in 2008.
I am a highly sensitive person who used to struggle with "I'm not good enough" and "I don't deserve it". This later led to a tremendous amount of personal growth. When I tried to share my learnings with others, I realized that change needs to come from within and happen in each person's own way. That's how I started on the path to coaching.
I am constantly inspired by the wisdom and strength of my clients. The more I coach, the more I love it.
